Michael John Smith

Our neighbor in Houston, Texas, was a professional photographer who suggested that Mike had a personality that many advertisers and photographers preferred.  So we found an agency, signed him up, and launched his modeling career.

He began with runway work...mostly freebies in malls and local events.  Eventually he was getting print work like the one shown on this page.  One of my favorite stories occurred in one of his earliest print photo shoots.  He was "acting up" and quite disruptive, and afterwards the photographer came up to me and said "I'll never hire him again."  She was upset...needless to say.  About a year later, we went to a photo shoot for Foleys Department Store, and I noticed that the photographer was the same person that told me she would never do work with him again.  Afterward she said to me, "He was great...one of the best children I've ever worked with...but for some reason, he looks familiar to me."  I said thank you, and never told her about the earlier meeting.
