![]() Mary Smyth McPhillips marker in Keyesville, Wisconsin, cemetery. She was the wife of Michael McPhillips, who after the death of his wife lived in both South Dakota and Wisconsin, alternating between his different children. Behind this marker is the Greenan/Smyth family plot (Catherine, Owen, Tearance and others).
Susan, her sister Jane, and their mother recently visited the Keyesville cemetery, and placed metal markers in front of the graves so they can be identified in the future. The graves have experienced considerable erosion over the years, which makes them difficult to read. While there, the family tried to clean up the markers.
Susan write, "Keyesville Cemetery with my mom and sister Jane. We saw this headstone of Patrick McPhillips's daughter Elizabeth (Lill) and her husband Tony Weitzel. " |
![]() Pictured above is the grave of "little Mary", sister to Patrick Smith and Susan McPhillips Smith. While still in Ireland, Mary lost three children in Ireland and their names are lost to memory. One of our cousins is pictured behind this stone.
Pictured with the McPhillips marker is a grand daughter of Patrick and Mary McPhillips who still lives in the Spring Green area.
For more information about the McPhillips refer to McPhillips Origin.
Margaret Smyth's marker in Loretto, Wisconsin. We had seen this grave while visiting the Spring Green area last summer, although we weren't certain of this family's relationship to us. Based on some recent messages sent by Susan Eberle, we think that this family was a close relative to Mary Smyth McPhillips, who was Patrick and Susan McPhillip's mother. |
