Two siblings of James and Ann Ryan made their way to Brule County, South Dakota, to homestead.  Batt Ryan made his way to Dakota territory first, and within a few years his sister Mary (Ryan) Boney and her family moved from Colorado to the great northern plains.  The family's life in Allamakee County can be documented through church and civil records, and the documents below are civil records from South Dakota.  These documents will be added to the Ryan Library where other historical items are currently located.  As there is a reference to James Boney in the following records, we're reminded of his tragic death while performing his law enforcement duties (James Boney).
