We have recorded a lot of family events over the past few years. Our primary focus has been on gathering genealogical information. And usually the best source to capture family history has been through obituaries. Interestingly, weddings provide a great deal of information regarding our family history, as well. These wedding events are specific to the Smith family line. | ||

In the above notice, there are two things of interest: Owen McPhillips came back from his honeymoon plus John Smith left Kimball to see relatives in Sauk County, Wisconsin. I guess Susan felt it was safe for him to take a trip on his own again. The last time we saw a newspaper notice that John Smith was leaving for Lone Rock (1908), he decided to go a little further east...to Scotland and Ireland. Owen McPhillips was Susan McPhillips brother. One of her brothers remained in Spring Green, and another made his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We do know that Irish John Smith still maintained land around his Wisconsin homestead.
