Batt Ryan, J. J. Boney, Ryans and Smiths
Between 1883 and 1905 there were numerous references to family members listed in the local newspapers. These selections only look at a few selected years, but gives us an idea how involved our families were in the local community. In addition, Dakota territory offered an opportunity to make money, and subsequently, they were investors in the Kimball Creamery while increasing value to their respective homesteads.
Rather than create a story line for these news articles, I believe that it is more interesting to read them without further subtext. Some of the highlights: $1,000 for anyone finding Phileas' body in 1895, a neighbor shooting Batt's hogs, J.J. Boney's daughter visits from Colorado , and more interesting, how connected these families were to each other in those days.
