Lyons, McCarvilles and Greenans
The following articles are about the Lyons and McCarville families of Brooklyn, New York. In Irish John Smith's journals, he mentioned that he stayed with his cousin Catherine Lyons. The relationship to our family is through Catherine's mother. Catherine's mother was a sister to John Smith's mother, Catherine Greenan Smith Rooney.
The Lyons family was one of the wealthier families in Brooklyn, and eventually donated their estate for the expansive cemetery in Brooklyn, specifically, the Jewish burial grounds. James Lyons was a manufacturer of Black Lamp, and employed hundreds of men to produce this building material.
