territory in 1930. See

census records is the 1885 records notice for Batt Ryan.

later we see his death recorded in 1907. At the time of his death,
his wife and several children were living in Rolla, Missouri.
After his death, the family moved back to the Waukon area - some farming
in Allamakee County and others living in nearby Houston County,
Minnesota. See

(click to enlarge). Catharine Ryan is the only child of Ann and
James Ryan that we haven't been able to track yet. As we have seen
with other family members, we believe that she married a boy "next
door", so we have attached potential "suspects" found in the 1870
Allamakee Census. Earlier information indicated that she may have
lived in the Chicago area, but is possible that eventually made her way
to California.

(click to enlarge). Oddly enough this is the only U.S. Census
record we have of this family. Based on obituaries and other
information we have, this family lived in Kimball, South Dakota in the
mid 1880s and possibly into the 1890s. Since the 1890
Census Records are unavailable (may have been destroyed because a new
census was taken in 1895), we are not positive when they left Kimball
and made their way to Saskatchewan. The Ryan family lived in this
Canadian province until 1911 (see
Saskatoon)
. There is also an interesting story of James Ryan running for
sheriff of Allamakee County, see
James Ryan.
