New York City in the Summertime

On July 3rd we spent the day in the city with Joe, Colleen, Wendy and Tom.  Elizabeth, I and Patrick went into the city and met the rest of the family at Joe's place in Queens.  From there, we made our way to the Botanical Gardens (in large part because the lines at the museum were "really" long!!  I think the only person who avoided the long lines was Straus-Kahn who had lunch at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA)...I doubt that he stood in line for several hours just to have al little lunch (of course... just getting out of jail...he must have been hungry for museum food).

Later that evening we attended Shakespeare in the Park play "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream".  While I always had a hard time following Old English, particularly Beowulf and similar era plays, the actors made this easy to follow.  We later commented how so many of the actors also had parts on New York City based "Law and Order."  This play was well done, and turned out to be a great evening... even though it had rained periodically throughout the day.

In a few days, the brothers and sisters will be coming to the Northeast to celebrate the wedding of Kate Smith and Blake Delaney.  Thursday is when most will be arriving and the family will be making their way into the city on Friday morning, where they will spend the night at Joe's place.  On Saturday, they will be making their way to Connecticut.

It should be fun.
