Roy Ryan, Son of Dennis Ryan
This is a quick snapshot of the Roy Ryan family chart. Roy was the grandson of James and Ann Ryan of Waukon, Iowa. He moved to Cushing, Oklahoma with his family; and remained behind with his sister after the rest of his family moved away. Roy eventually moved back to the Waukon area, and married Margaret Collins in 1916. One of the things we have found with Roots.web and other genealogical resources is that the information is not always accurate. The Roots.web record shows Roy's birth year as 1900, but we know that is not correct. In Dennis Ryan's estate papers of 1907, it shows Roy's age as 13. This tells us that his birth year is 1894. This is more explainable because otherwise it would mean that (1) Margaret (age 21) would have married a 16 year old boy, but more important (2) why would Dennis and Mary Ryan leave a six year old in Cushing, Oklahoma, when the rest of the family left for Missouri?
