We know Ferdinand Turgeon joined the Dakota Cavalry during the US Civil War.  The following information shows he was born in the same general area where the rest of the Turgeons claim as home – Bellechasse County, Quebec.  Cesaire Turgeon had a brother named Ferdinand; however, Cesaire’s brother was born in 1828.  The Civil War Turgeon would have been born around 1837 or so.  At this point I do not know how Ferdinand is related to our family, but am certain he is a near distant relative.
