Finally, the Turgeon and Smith connection. I found several documents of direct interest to our family. One was the register for Grandpa and Grandma Smith's marriage. If you look at all the documents you should notice who the priest was that did the ceremony.
What I find interesting about all this is the fact that it explains some of the confusion. Robbie's story indicated that Merida Patry Turgeon married a Chevalier. Barb told me she understood that the Chevaliers were good friends of the family. This information would suggest that they were more than good friends but close relatives.
Owen McPhillips was Susan McPhillips younger brother. He also lived in Kimball and probably with his dad, Mick McPhillips. Mick or Michael died in Kimball around 1912 I believe. He is also buried in Kimball but his wife, Mary, is still buried in Sauk County.
