Frank Ryan was the son of Batt Ryan, and a direct ancestor for most of the family viewing this website. In the "wallpaper" depicted on this web site, he is one of the children shown in this photograph. Batt and Liza Ryan. Short story by Mary Rita. Both were born in Ireland - Bartholemew in Tipperary and Liza in Donegal. Tracing Liza's origins in Ireland has proven to be much easier than finding Batt's origins. He claimed School Hill as the town he grew up in, and while School Hill is not an uncommon name in Ireland, it no longer exists in Tipperary. Old Tipperary Maps. Maps from 1783 thru 1890.
