Death of William Sheridan When we wrote about William Sheridan earlier, we didn't really know what happened to him. We saw that Mary (Ryan) Sheridan was in the Watson, Saskatchewan census living near her parents, James and Josephine (Hill) Ryan. Based on recent research, we find that he was involved in a major train wreck which took his life. We also know a little more about his family life. |

The Sheridan Family of Minnesota
William Sheridan's father immigrated in 1863 from Ireland, married Bridget Goggins in 1869, and was born the following year in Dexter, Minnesota (January 24, 1870). William's father, Patrick, worked for the railroad; and he moved his family several times over the next 30 years working on railroad section crews. During most of these years, the family lived in Mower County, MN. Mower County is on the extreme southeast of Minnesota, and is in close proximity to both Allamakee and Winnshiek Counties. Interestingly, Bridget changed her name to Delia in later years.
William was 32 when he died in this tragic accident. The articles describing this accident are on the bottom of this page. The following are census documents of the Patrick Sheridan family.
